JerryRig Razor Knife 2.0 Concept

Concept: JerryRig Knife 2.0

To date one of the greatest professional experiences of my life was interning for a company called Not-A-Wheelchair. This is a company owned by the well known Youtuber, Zack Nelson, aka JerryRigEverything. One project assigned to me was the development of a second generation to his JerryRig Razor Knife, but this time with some “apocalyptic utility”.

Backside of Knife

In any apocalyptic scenario, access to information becomes vital—especially when modern systems like the internet collapse. Knowing when to plant and harvest crops could determine survival. For centuries, humanity has relied on the stars to mark the seasons, tracking constellations as they rise and set through the year. Drawing from that tradition, I designed this northern-hemisphere star map in Adobe Illustrator before refining the layout in my preferred 3D software.

Another key piece of knowledge in such conditions is long-range communication—achieved through something as timeless and reliable as Morse code. Unlike modern digital networks, Morse requires no infrastructure beyond a light, sound, or radio signal. It’s a language that can bridge vast distances using the simplest tools—flashlights, mirrors, or even improvised tapping patterns. I incorporated a reference guide to Morse within the design to emphasize how low-tech methods can still connect people when everything else fails.

I never set out to design a knife, but rather, a low tech knowledge tool that intentionally provides informational utility on an otherwise blank canvas.
